JÄLKISYTYTYS

Jälkisytytys is a folk music band I have with my sister Emilia Lajunen and my brother Olli Lajunen. It's a band for two violins, nyckelharpa and harmonium. Our music is Finnish traditional and modern folk music, combined with our own music. We started to play together as children. Our mother drove us all to music lessons and gigs. Our teachers were great musicians from the folk music band Tallari, especially Ritva Talvitie and Timo Valo. We performed regularly in Finland and abroad during the years 1993-1999. In 1994 we won the youth section of  the folk music bands of Mäntsälä Sepän Soitto Competition. A year later we were one of the festival bands in Kaustinen Folk music Festival and the same year we visited the United States and Canada with Tallari. We performing there at the Finnfest festival in Michigan and Marquette.

From 1999 to 2011 we had long break without public concerts, but in Summer 2012 we performed again in Kaustinen Folk Music festival. It's was a great experience, and I hope we won't leave such a long gap before our next gig.
